Well, first and foremost, the Mr. and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary last Sunday! It was incredible. We had the whole weekend to ourselves which we filled with all sorts of selfish things that parents of young children can't typically do- like sleeping in late, staying up late, watching rated R movies in the living room without worrying about the volume, not shutting and locking the bedroom door (haha..), having a restaurant dinner for two- no kids menu, movie theater date to see a grown-up movie, and we even had a couple's massage that left us totally relaxed, moisturized, and slant-eyed. We saved the top tier of our wedding cake and a bottle of champagne from our wedding day for our anniversary. I had high hopes for my cake tasting as good as it was a year ago. I had several people tell me that theirs tasted great, but it wasn't the case for mine. I was a bit disappointed, but the champagne didn't fail me. In fact, it was delicious that night, and even more so the next morning in my mimosa... all of them.
It was a wonderful weekend. And I'm so happy that I'm able to say I love him more now than I did a year ago, and I really mean it! We both missed our little dude and were ready for him to come home. Even with all the fun, it just doesn't feel right after too long without him.
Sean has a new schedule which allows him MUCH more time at home. In fact, he's there a lot when we're not! This past week he took on a couple of home projects (one was installing under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen which looks AMAZING!) and even cleaned the fish tank and did some laundry. I could get used to this. I started student-teaching last week. I'm finishing out my last semester of college- I can't taste the end, it's so close! I'm at Carter's school in a classroom down the hall from him. He loves it. He brags to his little friends that his "Mommy's a teacher here!" Not quite, but I'll let him have it. I also got accepted to start my graduate studies this semester. I applied and paid the fees that go with, registered for the first course, and then... I saw that the ONE course cost a $1K. I wasn't worried about the workload at all, but really? A thousand dollars for a single class? Who knew furthering your education would break the bank? I decided to wait and see if I get hired by a school that offers to pay for that sort of thing, or until we have a second income and that type of bill is pocket change, haha, then I'll pursue my Master's. I will get it, it's just a matter of when I start!
I'll leave you with some pictures of male bonding in our house. Hope you have a wonderful week! And happy MLK day :) Enjoy the extra time with your kids!
Aww fun fun!!! Happy Anniversary to you two! I thought about you on the 10th. Cant believe it has been a year! So surprised that you saved your cake. I thought you would have done the sweet-tooth piggy thing like me and scarf it down the day after the wedding!! hahaaaa. Miss you guys!
